Communications strategist and consultant Nancy Seideman is an expert in the enhancement of the reputations of organizations through comprehensive public relations support, including issues management, crisis communications, leadership development, media relations and storytelling.
Ms. Seideman most recently served as Vice President for Academic Communications and Reputation Leadership at Emory University in Atlanta where she led activities to support academic thought leadership across the university, with a focus on highlighting faculty teaching, research and scholarship.
In that role, she partnered with university colleagues to help attract, engage and retain students through communication initiatives that enhanced the student experience and helped build a seamless student journey, from prospective student through engaged alumni.
As interim vice president for Emory’s communications and marketing division (2013-2014), Ms. Seideman directed communications strategy, messaging and media relations related to Emory University Hospital’s successful care of patients with Ebola virus disease, the first to be treated in the United States. In recognition of their work, the university’s Ebola Communications Team won top public relations awards from local and national organizations.
During her 31-year career at Emory University, she was responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications strategies that included a broad range of activities including media relations, internal and external communications, social media, issues management, and crisis communication. She also served as a principal university spokesperson.
Ms. Seideman has been an invited presenter at numerous public relations, higher education, and healthcare conferences, including programs such as the P World Communications Summits, the national College Media Conference, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Higher Education (CASE) Summit for Leaders in Advancement, and conferences of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).
Recognized as a national higher education leader, she served as a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) Public Affairs Steering Committee (2013-2020) and as co-founder and leader of the AAU Issues Management Group.
Before joining the Emory University staff in 1990, Ms. Seideman served as national media manager for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and worked in hospital public relations in Boston and San Francisco. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Simmons College, Boston.
Ms. Seideman serves as TCG’s Senior Counsel in strategic communications, issues management and marketing, working with a wide variety of clients to provide effective communications support for advancement strategies that produce successful constituency development and relationship management as well as sustained, productive fundraising.
