Raymond J. Mitchell

With more than four decades of experience in fundraising, public relations, marketing, organizational advancement and communications — including more than 30 years in independent consulting and 18 as staff in the hospital, healthcare and medical field — Raymond J. Mitchell has served in senior-level positions in a number of prestigious institutions and organizations, including Boston College, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, New England Deaconess Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital, New England Memorial Hospital, Massachusetts Medical Society, Massachusetts Easter Seal Society and State Mutual Life Assurance Company of America.

 

His professional background includes particular focus on issue management and constituency

development, fundraising, governance management, marketing strategy and promotion, media

relations and publicity, and organizational identity, branding and advancement.

 

Mr. Mitchell has extensive experience in major-gifts fundraising, public and media relations, the preparation and production of collateral communication, marketing and fundraising communication, governance management and the production and management of special events. He has produced benefit entertainment events and celebrity speaker programs featuring many well-known performing artists and leading experts in a range of specialized fields.

 

With substantial experience in all major subspecialties of professional public relations and fundraising practice, as well as marketing communication and organizational advancement, Mr. Mitchell is particularly well-equipped to provide diverse clients with effective counsel and quality consulting services in a wide variety of businesses and nonprofit programmatic areas.

 

A native of Lawrence, Massachusetts, Mr. Mitchell was educated in the schools of St. Mary’s Parish and at Central Catholic High School in that community. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Boston College and has attended the Fund-Raising School (San Rafael, California) and Peace Corps training programs at University of California/Los Angeles and St. Louis University.

 

His current and past professional memberships include the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Public Relations Society of America, the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce (MA), the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits, and the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce (NH).

 

He has served as volunteer advancement counsel for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston, St. Michael School (North Andover, MA), Jericho Road / Lawrence (MA), and was a board member of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Newton, Massachusetts and a member of the original Friends of North Shore Music Theater, Beverly, Massachusetts.

 

Mr. Mitchell established Trident Communications Group in 1995 to serve the advancement needs of nonprofit organizations throughout New England and the Northeast.
